How to Have the Ultimate Girls’ Night In

Sometimes the best plans are the ones that involve absolutely no plans.

No heels. No overpriced cocktails. No waiting in line. No wondering if you're going to regret your outfit by midnight.

Just your favourite girls, snacks on snacks, comfy clothes, a great movie, and enough tea to keep you talking until way past your bedtime.

Whether you're celebrating something, having a much-needed catch-up, or simply looking for an excuse to stay in, here's our guide to creating the ultimate girls' night in.

Step One: Dress for the Occasion

First things first: the dress code.

And yes, we're taking this very seriously.

The perfect girls' night in outfit should be cute enough for the inevitable group photos but comfortable enough that you can spend the entire night curled up on the couch.

Enter: matching pyjamas.

There's something about putting on a matching set that instantly makes the night feel a little more special. Add fluffy socks, your favourite slippers and an oversized cardigan for maximum cosy points.

The goal is simple: cute, comfy and absolutely nowhere near jeans.

Step Two: Snacks. Lots of Snacks.

A girls' night in without snacks is simply a meeting.

You need options.

Start with a grazing board filled with your favourites—cheese, crackers, fruit, dips, olives, chocolate and anything else that can be casually picked at throughout the night.

Then add the essentials:

Something salty.
Popcorn, chips, fries or your favourite takeaway.

Something sweet.
Chocolate, lollies, brownies, ice cream... preferably all of the above.

Something to drink.
Cocktails, mocktails, wine, soft drinks or a giant jug of something fruity.

And the golden rule?

Don't underestimate how much food four girls can eat.

Step Three: Set the Mood

Now for the important part.

Turn the big lights off.

Light a few candles, put on a playlist, grab every blanket in the house and make the couch as ridiculously comfortable as possible.

You want the room to feel like somewhere you could happily spend the entire night.

Bonus points for fairy lights.

And absolutely no judgement if everyone arrives with their own blanket.

Step Four: Choose Your Rom-Com

Now comes the impossible decision: what are we watching?

The perfect girls' night movie needs to be funny, romantic, nostalgic and ideally something you've already seen approximately 14 times.

Some tried-and-true options:

🍿 The Holiday – cosy, romantic and basically made for winter nights.

🍿 How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days – peak early-2000s rom-com energy.

🍿 13 Going on 30 – nostalgic, funny and impossible not to love.

🍿 The Devil Wears Prada – technically not a rom-com, but absolutely belongs on the list.

🍿 Legally Blonde – because sometimes you need a reminder that being underestimated is simply an opportunity to prove everyone wrong.

🍿 Bridget Jones's Diary – for when you want romance, chaos and a character you can all relate to a little too much.

And if you've already watched your chosen movie together? Even better.

There's nothing wrong with talking through half of it.

Step Five: Time to Dish the Tea

Every girls' night needs a point where the movie gets paused and someone says:

"Okay, but I need to tell you what happened."

This is where the real entertainment begins.

Make it official with a few games designed to get everyone talking.

Who's Most Likely To?

Keep it simple.

Who's most likely to:

  • Marry a celebrity?
  • Move overseas on a whim?
  • Reply to an ex?
  • Become famous?
  • Survive a zombie apocalypse?
  • Accidentally fall in love on holiday?

Pointing fingers is encouraged.

Never Have I Ever

An oldie but a goodie.

Start innocent and see how quickly things escalate.

Truth or Tea

Put a twist on truth or dare.

Instead of doing a dare, you either answer the question honestly... or spill some tea about something that happened recently.

No boring questions allowed.

The Dating Debrief

Everyone gets five minutes to share their latest dating story, crush, situationship or complete disaster.

The group then gets to vote:

Green flag, red flag, or run for your life?

Step Six: Do a Little Self-Care

Once you've exhausted the tea, it's time to wind down.

Face masks, under-eye patches, fluffy robes, skincare and a little pampering session are basically mandatory.

Put on a relaxing playlist, make another round of drinks and let the night slow down.

Because sometimes the best part of a girls' night is simply having nowhere else to be.

Step Seven: Take the Photos

You know it's going to happen anyway.

Matching pyjamas + snacks + candles + good lighting = content.

Take the group photos.

Take the blurry ones.

Take the ridiculous ones.

Take the photo where everyone is laughing because someone said something they definitely shouldn't have.

Those are usually the best ones.

And Finally... Don't Make Plans for Tomorrow Morning

This might be the most important step of all.

A proper girls' night in should end with everyone staying up far too late, eating one last piece of chocolate and saying:

"Okay, seriously, we need to do this more often."

So put your phone away, get comfortable, pour another drink and enjoy being together.

Because sometimes you don't need a big night out.

You just need your favourite people, a cosy couch, really good snacks and nowhere else to be.

That's our kind of night.

With love,
